I Will Never Forget
Today marks the 11th anniversary of the September 11th tragedy, and each year on this date I always take a moment to reflect on how precious life is and how close I came to losing everything important to me- my family. As many of you may already know, I was –and still am- living across the street from the World Trade Center when the buildings were struck back in 2001. At the time of the attack I was in Brooklyn dropping my son off at school but my 3 year old daughter Sadye was at home with her babysitter. Fortunately, they were able to take cover in our stairwell and managed to survive unharmed. My apartment was not so lucky; blasted by the powerful collapse of the towers, everything we owned was destroyed.
But while the loss of our home was trying, at the end of the day possessions cannot compare to the happiness of knowing your loved ones are safe. I feel blessed everyday to have my family by my side and I will never forget the day I almost lost it all.
On this day I salute all of the men and women who put themselves in harms way trying to save lives and my heart goes out to all those families who tragically didn’t have the luck I was blessed with on that day.
